There’s a common misconception that dry skin and dehydrated skin are the same things. However dry skin generally refers to skin lacking in oil, whereas dehydrated skin lacks moisture. It’s a condition that can affect all skin types, including the oily kind. It occurs when the stratum corneum, the uppermost layer of the skin, is deficient in moisture and signs of this include itchy skin, dullness and dark circles under the eyes.
As well as the lack of moisture, dehydrated skin is also caused by environmental factors, diet and lifestyle habits, including prolonged exposure to the sun. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5 are often used in dehydration products for their moisture-enhancing abilities.
To combat this skin concern, ingredients that deliver water directly to cells can prevent dehydration such as hyaluronic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, glycerin and aloe. This is because they are humectants and work like magnets, drawing moisture to the skin.
Dermoi is partnered with brands that produce effective skincare products that deliver dramatic visible improvements to the skin. They incorporate hydrating and moisturising ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and collagen which both works to retain moisture from the deep layers of skin and the environment and bind them to the outermost layer of the skin.
