Valentine's Day: Skin Preparation Guide

Big date night coming up? Prep your skin for Valentine's Day without our mega skincare guide. We promise that your significant other will be mesmerised by your glow!

I'm sure by now you are aware of what steps should be present in your skincare regime. Cleanser, mask, serum, moisturiser, SPF, repeat. However, here is the ultimate Valentine's guide to get you ready!

Step one: Cleanse and cleanse again

The beginning of any great skincare routine is a cleanse. And even better - double cleanse! Remove all of the impurities that have found their way into your pores, ensuring you are blemish free and prepped for the rest of your skincare routine. Not sure what cleanser to use for your skin type? Take a quick look!

Dry: iS Clinical Cream Cleanser or Osmosis Cleanse: Gentle Cleanser

Oily/Acne: iS Clinical Cleansing Complex or Osmosis Deep Clean: Detox Cleanser

Normal / Combination: iS Clinical Warming Honey Cleanser or Osmosis Cleanse: Gentle Cleaner

Sensitive: iS Clinical Cream Cleanser

Step two: Exfoliation time

Exfoliation allows for the dead cells on the surface of the skin to be removed, as well as cleaning deep down in the pores. If you don't exfoliate, you risk your skin looking dull and rough. Tip: Exfoliate a couple of days before your date so your skin can prepare for a full regime.

All skin types: iS Clinical Tri-Active Exfoliant or Osmosis Polish

Step three: Mask up

Use a mask to remove any stubborn toxins in your skin and hydrate through all the layers of the dermis and epidermis! This will allow for an instant glow. Tip: Use the mask the day of your date and leave it on for 10-20 minutes.

Dry: Osmosis Hydralift Firming Gel Mask

Oily/Acne: Osmosis Polish Enzyme Firming Mask or Osmosis Pore Minimising Clay

Normal/Combination: iS Clinical Hydra-Intensive Cooling Masque

Step four: Time for serums

Serums will help hydrate deep down in your skin, creating a healthy glow and allowing your skin to feel its best. Serums will also help in plumping skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, leaving your face looking youthful and healthy. Tip: Put a little of iS Clinical's Hydra-Cool Serum in your foundation for a dewy glow!

Dry: iS Clinical Poly-Vitamin Serum or Osmosis Replenish Antioxidant Repair Serum

Oily/Acne: iS Clinical Active Serum or Osmosis Clarify Vitamin A Blemish Serum

Sensitive: iS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum or Osmosis Calm Vitamin A Serum

Step 5: We all scream for eye cream

Some eye creams on the market now have an immediate effect on puffiness, fine lines and dark circles (and these are precisely the kind of things you can do without on date night.) Tip: Youth Eye Complex can also be used on your lips to reduce wrinkles!

All skin types: iS Clinical Youth Eye Complex or Osmosis Refresh PM

Step 6: Hydration, Hydration, Hydration - Moisturiser

It doesn't matter what skin type you are, don't skip this step! Especially if you're using make-up, moisturiser cannot be forgotten! Tip: use iS Clinical Reparative Moisture Emulsion under make-up (it makes a great foundation primer!)

Dry: iS Clinical Moisturising Complex or Osmosis Quench

Oily/Acne: iS Clinical Moisturising Complex or Reparative Moisture Emulsion

Step 7: Don't skip the SPF

It doesn't matter if you're going out once the sun has gone down - you cannot forget your SPF! UV light comes from halogen lights and blue light that comes from your phone and other devices, so make sure you have it on at all times! Tip: These SPFs also make great moisturisers (use Extreme Protect sparingly as it goes a long way)

All skin types: iS Clinical Extreme Protect or Osmosis Protect SPF 30

One last tip: Use iS Clinical’s Copper Firming Mist to set make-up and carry it in your bag for an extra spritz of hydration throughout the evening!

Follow these steps, and we can guarantee beautiful skin that your partner will love (and more importantly, you will love). Feel confident in your own skin this Valentine's Day!
