A Simple Skin-Care Routine for Oily Skin

1. Use a Cleanser Formulated for Oily Skin⠀
Cleansing is one of the most important steps you can take to help remove dirt, grime and excess oil off your skin’s surface. Start your morning off by cleansing your skin with a gentle face wash.⠀

2. Tone Your Skin⠀
Next up: tone. Using a toner immediately after cleansing your skin can help ensure all impurities are effectively swept away.⠀

3. Use an Oil-Free Moisturizer⠀
Just because your oily skin looks shiny doesn’t mean it should go without an application of moisturizer. In fact, refraining from coating your oily skin in a layer of moisturizer post-cleanse can actually cause your skin to produce more oil to make up for what is perceived to be a loss of moisture. One of the best ways to keep the excess shine in check, while still giving your skin the moisture it needs daily, is to massage an oil-free moisturizer into your skin.⠀

4. Apply a Broad-Spectrum SPF ⠀
This goes for all skin types across the board — always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 15 prior to heading outdoors. By now you should know that any exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays can wreak havoc on your skin in the form of wrinkles, fine lines, sunburn, dark spots and even some cancers. Make a habit of applying broad-spectrum sunscreen.⠀

5. Remove Makeup⠀
Because your skin does a large chunk of its regeneration during deep sleep, it’s essential to go to bed with a clean canvas. That means removing all traces of makeup and dirt before laying your head down. Using the same face wash and technique from your morning routine, cleanse your skin. Next, use that same oil-free toner you used in the morning to balance your skin’s pH level and ensure all impurities are removed.⠀

6. Finish With a Night Cream⠀
Night cream is a great way to lock in the moisture, as well as address additional skin concerns such as dark spots and wrinkles. ⠀
